THERMOS® PARTNERS WITH UNDER ARMOUR TO CREATE NEW LINE OF HYDRATION WATER BOTTLES
New Hydration Line Designed for Athletes Will Incorporate Industry-Leading Technology

TORONTO, ONTARIO. (December 16, 2010) – The leader of the insulated beverageware category for over 100 years and a trusted brand among consumers, Thermos® is bringing its hydration offerings to a new level of performance by partnering with the ultimate sports performance brand, Under Armour®. The partnership will include a line of co-branded bottles that integrate Under Armour branding into Thermos product designs to create a superior line of performance hydration bottles.

The new BPA-free line will be available in Canada beginning in June 2011 at sporting goods retailers, and will include insulated stainless steel bottles, Tritan™ plastic bottles and squeezable bottles. The entire line will feature a convenient interchangeable four-lid system, which includes a range of designs from a traditional screw top lid to an innovative flip-top spout lid with one hand push button operation.

“This partnership allows us to reach a segment that already makes up Under Armour’s core consumer, the active athlete who relies on staying hydrated to perform at his or her best,” said Rick Dias, President and Chief Operating Officer at Thermos. “Given the strong correlation between cold hydration and improved athletic performance, we’re confident that this partnership will result in superior hydration for better performance at all athletic levels.”

“Under Armour is constantly pursuing new innovations and products to help give athletes an edge in performance,” said Edward Giard, VP Licensing and Accessories at Under Armour. “Our partnership with Thermos, a leader in the hydration bottle category, allows us to continue our mission to make all athletes better and equip them with the best performance gear possible.”

It has long been recognized that drinking cold beverages helps enhance athletes’ overall health, endurance and hydration. The American College of Sports Medicine recommends that water and other drinks be chilled when used for exercise for superior performance and faster recovery. Research shows that cold beverages are absorbed more quickly by the body and also protect against heat gain during training*. In the hydration bottle category, only Genuine Thermos® Brand insulated products feature unique Thermos® vacuum insulation technology that keeps beverages cold for 12-24 hours.

BPA Free Why it matters

Bisphenol A

Bisphenol A (BPA) is a controversial chemical that can be found in the lining of food cans, certain water bottles and more. Some researchers have linked the hormone-mimicking chemical to a host of issues including behavioral and developmental effects in kids. Thermos plays it safe, and has made a commitment to only manufacture products that are BPA-free.
